Concrete Driveways
We pour concrete driveways, patios and sidewalks in Palm Bay, tear out and replace slabs that have failed, and extend driveways that are too narrow. Broom finish is standard.
Cape Canaveral sits on a barrier island on the Atlantic coast, due south of the cape itself. The Banana River, Merritt Island and the Indian River lie between the city and the mainland. The whole city covers about 2.3 square miles, with a mix of single family homes and multifamily buildings. Avon-by-the-Sea, where the streets carry the names of presidents, began in the early 1920s. Orlando journalists named it Journalista after their trade, and Cape Canaveral got its city charter in 1963.
We install paver driveways and paver pool decks in Cape Canaveral, and we pour concrete driveways, patios and slabs. We work anywhere in the city, including Harbor Heights and the gated Ocean Woods community. On this island, we plan every driveway around two questions. Where does the rain go, and where does the drive meet the street? We are based in Palm Bay and work all of Brevard County and across Florida. Call (321) 215-5817 for a free on-site estimate.

On August 20, 2008, Tropical Storm Fay dropped 20.03 inches of rain on Cape Canaveral. Summers here run hot and wet, and tropical storms can brush the island in late summer and fall. The city sits about 10 feet above sea level. The ocean lies on one side and the Banana River on the other. The city says much of its storm runoff drains directly into the Indian River Lagoon. So on every slab and paver job here, the water gets planned first.
The city also asks homeowners to point roof downspouts off paved areas and onto grass, so rain can soak in. We lay out a new concrete patio or driveway so those downspouts still empty onto the yard. The slab gets a steady pitch away from the house and toward open ground. Saw-cut control joints go in on every pour.
A storm like Fay is a test of what sits under a paver job. On a paver driveway we dig out, compact a base, spread bedding sand and set vehicle-rated pavers. An edge restraint holds the field in place, and polymeric sand fills the joints. A paver pool deck also gets deck drains and a slope away from the pool and the house. When an older deck tips water back toward the house, we correct the slope as part of the job.
The City of Cape Canaveral requires a permit for any work on or within its right-of-way. That matters most at the street end of a driveway. A new apron, a driveway extension that reaches the road, or an old apron coming out may sit inside it. Where the right-of-way line falls on your lot gets checked at the estimate, before the layout is final. The rule covers any work there, so a tear-out at the street can need the permit as much as a new pour.
Cape Canaveral also has a tree removal permit. The city's building FAQ says that permit is only needed for a specimen tree. Code enforcement at the city answers questions about which trees count. If a new patio or a wider drive would run into a tree, we flag it at the estimate. That way the tree question is answered before the layout is final.
Permits, inspections and fees in Cape Canaveral run through the city's own online portal. First time users need a PIN from the city's permitting office to log in. The permit question for your job gets settled at the free estimate, before any concrete removal starts. The same visit sets the drainage plan, so the slope is decided before the first saw cut.
